This long legacy YouTube brand (Theorist) chose Uscreen for its Membership

Theorist launched TheoryVerse on Uscreen instead of YouTube Membership. Here are the tiers, the member-only shows, and how the two platforms actually compare.

Every creator has a list of videos they actually want to make. The series that's been sitting in a notes app for more than a year. The deep-dive no one asked for, but they can't stop thinking about.

Sometimes, you'll see creators take the leap and create what they really want. If they hit all of the criteria, it can become a hit. But more often than not, these videos underperform compared to their regular uploads.

Then the creator has two options: to push through despite the underperformance, and potentially confuse the platform's algorithms, or set these ideas aside.

So, most of the time, that list stays right where it is... because it's not made for their audience.

That's why more and more creators are turning to memberships and fan communities to build something stronger. A space where they don't have to rely on platform algorithms.

There are so many different membership platforms that it might be overwhelming in what you should choose. It might feel obvious to start with YouTube Membership if your main audience are on YouTube, but that's not what Theorist has chosen.

The platform will launch with 3 membership tiers:

  • Armchair Theorist ($6/mo) - Ad-free viewing, exclusive shows, private Discord access, and AMA replays
  • Theory Crafter ($12/mo) - Behind-the-scenes content, community voting power, merch discounts, and additional fan recognition opportunities

To celebrate the launch, Theorist will offer a special Founders Rate on annual memberships for early Theory Crafter subscribers during the week.

Theorist has built one of the most intellectually engaged audiences on the internet, these aren't passive viewers, they're active participants. TheoryVerse is built for exactly that kind of community, and that's what makes this partnership exciting for Uscreen.

We're thrilled to partner with Theorist to power a platform that not only delivers premium content, but also builds a deeper, more interact fan experience.

There's a reason why Theorist chose Uscreen over YouTube Membership.

YouTube sounds convenient for Memberships. Not everyone wants to leave the platform, and especially not to create another account. So if you start your Membership right on YouTube, your subscribers can sign up with ease.

Unfortunately, there are a lot of limitation when it comes to YouTube Membership.

YouTube takes 30% of your revenue, which is a huge chunk compared to Uscreen who takes a flat rate of $0 - $1.99 (depending on what tier you get) per subscriber.

The most you can do with YouTube Memberships are member-only videos/livestreams and member-only posts. Anything else, you'd still need to take them off YouTube.

And if your channel gets taken down... there goes your monetization.

That's why the idea of membership platforms like Uscreen sound much more appealing. With Uscreen, you own your content and platform, not YouTube.

You get to build up a Netflix-style catalog that goes directly onto Uscreen's server. You even got a built-in schedule that members can interact with by selecting which video they want to be notified on.

Uscreen's Community Challenges feature is a natural fit for memberships like TheoryVerse. You can set up structured, time-bound video journeys for your members (think "30-day challenge" style programs), and Uscreen handles all the progress tracking automatically. Members see their progress pinned right at the top of the community page, and when they finish, they get a customizable completion email.
