Facebook launches Creator Fast Track with guaranteed pay for Reels, YouTube Shopping drops to 500 subscribers, a landmark lawsuit finds YouTube and Instagram liable for addicting kids, and OpenAI shuts down Sora.

When YouTube Shopping first started, it had a pretty steep requirement of 10k subs. Eventually, they lowered it to 5k subs in order to get more people on board with Shopping.

Now, anyone in the YPP is eligible for Shopping because YouTube's lowered the requirement to 500 subs.

If you're in the YPP, you'll either start seeing or are already seeing the option to tag products on your video.

To do this, head over to one of your video's detail page. Scroll down to the end of your description and you'll see a button called "Products". Click on it and add in the products you want.

  • You must reside in the US or Canada
  • Have (or will create) a Facebook Page and have it up for 30 days
  • Have no posted a FB reel in the past 6 months
  • Your Instagram, TikTok, or YouTube must have at least 20k followers
  • Your Instagram, TikTok, or YouTube must have at least 30k video views in the last 60 days
  • Have high quality content that's filmed or created by you
You can only apply on mobile.

Depending on your follower count, you can get:

  • $100 - $450/mo for 20k to 99k followers
  • $1,000/mo for 100k to 999k followers
  • $3,000/mo for 1M+ followers

Is this the beginning of the AI bubble burst? OpenAI plans to shutdown Sora.

Sora was launched in late 2024 and had a partnership with Disney that allow them to generate Disney-related items. A lot of people were using Sora, whether for fun or to create videos (or AI slop).

However, OpenAI is now discontinuing Sora as Disney ends their partnership, pulling out a billion dollars.
